The club began on June 4th, 1982 with 50 charter members and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Arlington (Downtown).
 
In 2022 Arlington North Rotary & Arlington West Rotary clubs merged together to become Arlington North West Rotary Club.
 

In 1990, the club began a fund raising project by putting out American flags on holidays to raise funds for various projects. The flag program started with 60 flags and has grown to over 1600 flag subscribers today.

Past President Dick McCree lead a Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to Sweden in the spring of 2001. 

Barbara Lucas lead a GSE team to Brazil in 2002.

Barbara Carter became Assistant District Governor (ADG) in 2002.

She was succeeded in 2005 by John Miller as ADG and  John became District Governor in July 2009.

Over the years, we've responded to various needs in the community. 

  • We've helped out with "Rebuilding Arlington" - repairing houses of needy families.
  • Our club helped, along with the other 6 Arlington Rotary Clubs to re-vitalize Meadowbrook Park, including cleaning it up; and contributing towards a statue to help beautify the park.  Meadowbrook Park was originally built by Rotary in the 1930's.
  • We've participated in the National Child Identification Project - taking fingerprints, pictures and DNA fo ID purposes.
  • Our club has also helped staff Immunization events.
  • We deliver Meals on Wheels every Thursday in SE Arlington.
  • During Covid we helped Mission Arlington, Arlington Charities and the Boys and Girls Club in Arlington provide meals to local families.
  • In various years, we've honored a senior volunteer and also an individual that does volunteer work with seniors with a "Service Above Self" Award.
  • PEP - Productivity Enhancement Program - to assist Russia's transition to a democratic and free market economy.
  • International project in the Dominican Republic - helping to build a fishing lagoon (Foundation Matching Grant).
  • Stove Project in Nicaragua and Guatamala (Foundation Matching Grant)
  • Ambulance Project for Leon Mexico with Arlington Sunrise Rotary for the Red Cross in August, 2009 (Foundation Matching Grant).

On a continuous basis - 

  • We support Lamar High School with 5 $1,500 scholarships to Graduating seniors each year and 4 $1,500 Scholarships to Graduating Martin High School Seniors each year and a $1,500 Scholarship to a Venture High School graduating senior..
  • Christmas project for the Lamar HS FIT program
  • Blood Drives to support Carter Blood Care
  • Meals on Wheels on a weekly basis.
  • Teacher Appreciation events at Lamar High School, Nichols & Shackelford Junior Highs, and Wimbish, Peach, McNutt Elementary Schools and  Jones Academy.
  • We provide a personal dictionary to all 3rd graders at 10 AISD Elementary Schools each year.
  • Wheelchair Foundation - currently supported through our weekly raffle drawing with 1/2 of the amount raised going to purchase wheel chairs.
